Arnold Schwarzenegger is stepping up to support Los Angeles in the wake of recent devastating wildfires.

On January 21, the 77-year-old actor and former governor took to Instagram to announce he is donating $1 million of his own funds to three organizations aiding in wildfire relief.

The donation will be split between @lafdfoundation, @cafirefound, and @habitatla.

«I don’t like when companies or rich people ask their fans to make their donations for them,» Schwarzenegger wrote in the post. «A lot of my fans have asked me how they can help LA. I’m going to lead the way.»

He also introduced a new initiative, sharing that 100% of the profits from a newly designed t-shirt featuring his likeness will go to support the relief efforts.

The shirt is inspired by the popular knock-off versions of his image sold to tourists on Venice Beach.

The wildfires, which started on January 7, have devastated much of the city, displacing tens of thousands of residents, including celebrities like Leighton Meester, Adam Brody, and Julia Louis-Dreyfus.

Thousands of structures have been affected, making it one of the most destructive fire seasons in the city’s history. Tragically, the fires have led to at least 27 deaths.

Schwarzenegger’s generosity comes as part of his longstanding commitment to giving back to the community.

Just a few months ago, he volunteered at a youth center in east L.A. on Thanksgiving, a tradition he has kept for over 30 years, donating turkeys to those in need.
