Cher admitted that she wasn’t certain about her future with Gregg Allman when she was pregnant and decided to marry him.

Cher reflects on her second marriage in her memoir *Cher: The Memoir, Part One*, where she shares insights into her whirlwind relationship with the late Gregg Allman. By the time her divorce from Sonny Bono was finalized in June 1975, Cher, 78, had already begun dating the Allman Brothers Band singer.

She recalls feeling a sense of relief after the long and complicated divorce proceedings.

Despite their quick connection, Cher had doubts about her future with Allman. «I didn’t know whether my relationship with Gregory would last or not. I was living each day as it came,» she writes. However, when she discovered she was pregnant, the couple quickly decided to marry. «Everything was arranged for us to tie the knot soon after,» she says.

Cher describes how her sister and friend were stunned by her announcement. «Come on, let’s just do this,» she told them as they headed to Las Vegas for the ceremony.

She reflects, «I just kept putting one foot in front of the other… The future is never written in stone. I did what I thought was the right thing to do.»

For Cher, getting married felt like the right step, especially with a baby on the way. The wedding was simple and unromantic, and the small bridal party returned to California shortly after. «There was nothing romantic about our wedding day,» Cher notes.

Just nine days after the wedding, Cher filed for divorce, but the couple reconciled.

They welcomed their son, Elijah Blue Allman, in 1976, remaining married until 1979. Allman passed away in 2017 from liver cancer at the age of 69.

Cher’s memoir also includes colorful stories about her past relationships, such as with Gene Simmons, her time with a drunken John Lennon at the Playboy Mansion, and her first impression of Dolly Parton, among other memorable moments.
