Jennifer Lopez finds her art mirroring her life in her latest role

In a recent interview with *Variety*, ahead of the 2025 Palm Springs International Film Festival, she discussed how she feels a deep connection with her character in *Unstoppable*, describing them as «kindred spirits.»

Lopez, 55, shared, «We both grew up Latina in this country, both have children with hopes and dreams for them, and both had challenging relationships that left us holding our families together.»

In *Unstoppable*, Lopez portrays Judy Robles, the mother of wrestler Anthony Robles (played by Jharrel Jerome), in a sports biopic that tells the inspiring story of the Arizona-born athlete born with one leg, striving to be recognized as a champion.

Reflecting on her roles, Lopez expressed, “Women are strong. From the moment we’re born, we have to constantly prove ourselves. That builds a strength inside of us.”

She continued, “And when you give birth, there’s nothing that makes you stronger than that.»

Lopez, who is the mother of 16-year-old twins Emme and Max with ex-husband Marc Anthony, pointed out how motherhood further deepens her strength.

*Unstoppable* made its debut at the Toronto International Film Festival in September 2024, shortly after Lopez filed for divorce from Ben Affleck.

Despite the personal challenges, Lopez’s performance in the film has earned praise, including from Affleck, who, as a producer on the project, called her performance «spectacular.»

Lopez is also being honored with the Legend & Groundbreaker Award at the Palm Springs International Film Festival. Ralph Fiennes, her *Maid in Manhattan* co-star, will present her with the award.

Reflecting on the recognition, Lopez said, “I’m humbled and blown away, but I still have so much more to do.» She sees this as just the beginning, stating, “I’m at the halfway mark. My best work is ahead of me, and the biggest successes are still to come.”

*Unstoppable* is now playing in select theaters and will be available on Prime Video starting January 16.
