Kate Middleton is reviving a particular earring trend, one she’s been quietly incorporating into her style for years.
Kate Middleton’s earring collection is as varied as her style, but one particular design has become a consistent favorite in her jewelry lineup.
The Princess of Wales, 43, has been seen wearing all kinds of earrings, from delicate dangles to bold hoops and even historic pieces from the royal vault.

Yet, during her February 11 visit to a women’s prison to learn about their support programs for mothers and babies, she chose an increasingly familiar look: oversized stud earrings.
As noted by the Kate Middleton Style Blog, the royal opted for a vintage pair of gold and pearl earrings by Katherine James.
These statement earrings perfectly complemented her bespoke tartan Blaze Milano coat, a subdued choice that had previously been worn at the Royal Marsden Hospital on January 14.

Kate has often reached for statement studs with a retro vibe in recent years, including a pair of pearl cluster earrings she debuted at her son Prince Louis’s christening in 2018.
She has worn these «Cavolfiore» pearl earrings by Cassandra Goad to several major events since then, such as the women’s finals at Wimbledon in July 2023 and Trooping the Colour in June 2024.
The earrings, featuring yellow gold, pearls, and diamonds, were inspired by the vibrant markets of Sicily, known for their overflowing baskets of fresh produce.

Kate’s preference for statement earrings goes back even further, such as when she wore large square-cut emerald earrings with a matching necklace at the 2018 BAFTA Film Awards.
In addition, Hello! magazine revealed that these earrings are convertible, having been worn as pendant earrings at the 2014 St. Andrews 600th anniversary dinner during Kate’s visit to New York City.
Recently, Kate has worn similar ensembles following a report in the Sunday Times suggesting that there were concerns about her style overshadowing her charity work, and there might be changes in how her fashion details are shared.

A Kensington Palace spokesperson addressed the issue on February 11, clarifying that the comments in the article were not from the Princess herself, and assured there would be no changes in how her clothing information is shared.
Susan Kelley, founder of the first-ever blog dedicated to Kate’s fashion, emphasized that while it’s understandable for Kate to want the focus to be on her work rather than her wardrobe, the interest in her style is unlikely to fade anytime soon.

«The reality is that people have an interest in the Princess’ style, and that is not something Kensington Palace or anyone else can control,» she said.
«People are going to seek out the information by various means.»
