Kate Middleton makes a festive entrance at her Christmas carol service, resembling a beautifully wrapped holiday present

The Princess of Wales is leading her fourth annual holiday service at Westminster Abbey, marking the start of the festive season with her most meaningful carol service yet—dressed like a holiday gift.

This year’s Together at Christmas service holds special significance, following a challenging period during which Kate underwent chemotherapy after being diagnosed with cancer and undergoing major abdominal surgery.

On December 6, Kate, 42, arrived at Westminster Abbey for the holiday concert, greeting volunteers before joining her family. She wore a red Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen coat with a black bow, paired with pearl earrings, black boots, and a voluminous blowout.

Prince William is set to read the first Lesson, and royal watchers hope to see their children—Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis—attend, as they did last year.

The event marked Kate’s second public appearance of the week, following her role in welcoming the Amir of Qatar on Dec. 3, as she continues her return to royal duties after cancer treatment.

Outside the Abbey, Kate passed the «Kindness Tree,» where guests could dedicate decorations to those who have supported them.

The Order of Service also thanked King Charles for donating trees from Windsor Great Park to decorate the church, which will later be given to the local community.

Guests enjoyed performances by young musicians, including a 25-piece steel pan band and a jazz ensemble from Restore the Music.

The evening featured Christmas carols, readings, ballet, and performances by Olivia Dean, Gregory Porter, Paloma Faith, and others, including a special piece by pianist Rosey Chan.

Olympic cyclist Chris Hoy, who recently shared his terminal cancer diagnosis, and Downton Abbey star Michelle Dockery, whose fiancé died of cancer in 2022, will also participate in the service.

Readings on love and empathy will be delivered by Prince William, actress Sophie Okonedo, actor Richard E. Grant, and others, including a poignant line, «The people who have walked in darkness have seen a great light.»
