Katy Perry, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s Montecito neighbor, performs at the Invictus Games opening ceremony
Katy Perry headlined the opening ceremony of the 2025 Invictus Games in Vancouver, showing her support for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, her neighbors in Montecito, California.
The 40-year-old pop icon took center stage as one of the event’s headliners, closing the ceremony with a high-energy performance that had the crowd on their feet, even sparking a conga line.
She performed a medley of hits, including «Roar,» «Dark Horse,» «Part of Me,» «Lifetimes,» and «Firework,» accompanied by the Naden Band of the Royal Canadian Navy, the 15th Field Regiment Band, the Royal Canadian Artillery Band, and the Invictus Games Dance Corp.
The event, held at BC Place, also featured performances by Chris Martin, Nelly Furtado, Noah Kahan, and Roxanne Bruneau.
Perry’s appearance comes after Prince Harry revealed in 2021 that he and Meghan are neighbors of Perry and Orlando Bloom in Montecito.
The couple has since become friends with the pop star and her husband.
Perry previously performed at King Charles’ coronation concert in 2023, and Harry and Meghan attended her Las Vegas residency show later that year.
Prince Harry, a former British army captain, founded the Invictus Games to support wounded, injured, and sick service personnel and veterans after witnessing the Warrior Games in 2013.
This year’s games in Canada will mark the first time the event returns to a previous host country and will introduce winter sports, including alpine skiing, snowboarding, curling, and skeleton, for the first time.
The Vancouver-Whistler Games will offer new opportunities for veterans and service members, with Dominic Reid, the outgoing CEO of the Invictus Games Foundation, praising Prince Harry’s dedication to creating extraordinary opportunities for those involved.
