Leonardo DiCaprio is stepping in to assist Los Angeles in recovering from the catastrophic wildfires.

The 50-year-old Oscar winner shared on his Instagram Stories on January 15 that he is contributing $1 million to support relief efforts.

«The Los Angeles wildfires are wreaking havoc on our city. I am pledging $1 million in collaboration with @rewild’s Rapid Response Program to address immediate needs and help with long-term recovery,» DiCaprio stated.

DiCaprio explained that the first wave of aid will directly support key organizations such as the LA Fire Department Foundation, California Fire Foundation, World Central Kitchen, California Community Foundation, Pasadena Humane Society, and SoCal Fire Fund.

These groups are on the frontlines, delivering vital resources to first responders, firefighters, and those in need, including people, animals, and communities.

As a native of Los Angeles, DiCaprio co-founded Re:wild and highlighted that the organization’s Rapid Response Program is «exceptionally prepared to address environmental disasters and crises.»

The wildfires that began on January 7 have become the deadliest in Los Angeles history, displacing thousands and claiming 25 lives so far.

On January 9, Jamie Lee Curtis announced that her family would donate $1 million to disaster relief efforts, expressing support for «our great city and state and the wonderful people who live and love here.»

Celebrities such as Jennifer Garner, Jessica Alba, and Halle Berry have also stepped forward, volunteering their time to assist first responders and families impacted by the fires.
