Meghan Markle shares which celebrity joined her family for an intimate and ‘low-key’ Thanksgiving celebration

Meghan Markle revealed she once hosted activist Gloria Steinem, 90, for a «low-key» Thanksgiving with Prince Harry, 40, and their children, Archie, 5, and Lilibet, 3, at their Montecito home.

In an interview with Marie Claire, the Duchess of Sussex, 43, encouraged Americans to welcome those without family during the holidays, reflecting on her own experiences with loneliness.

She shared that in 2023, Gloria joined their Thanksgiving, emphasizing the importance of creating space at the table for friends.

Meghan Markle shared that spending the holidays with her mom, Doria Ragland, has been «wonderful,» with the family enjoying meals, games, and music.

She noted that celebrating with her children gets «better» each year, as they now understand the holidays more. Meghan also highlighted their growing traditions, like leaving carrots for the reindeer.

She emphasized that making guests feel at home is easy—»just treat others the way you’d want to be treated.» Since stepping back from royal duties in 2020, Meghan has spoken about the difficulties of royal life, describing it as «nothing like it seems.»

In their Netflix docuseries, Meghan recalled meeting the Prince and Princess of Wales, describing herself as a «hugger,» which she felt may have been surprising to the more «formal» couple.

During their Oprah interview, she also alleged that some members of the Royal Family questioned how «dark Archie’s skin might be» before his birth.

Having moved to the UK before her engagement to Prince Harry, Meghan highlighted the importance of community when away from home.

Earlier this month, she hosted a dinner in Los Angeles for Afghan women resettling in the US, in partnership with Mina’s List and Archewell’s The Welcome Project.

Meghan’s program offers activities like art, photography, cooking, sewing, hiking, and swimming.

She shared, «When you miss home, it’s comforting to find solace in a new community. I’m grateful to be part of it.»

The meal, featuring Ashak and Mantuu dumplings, was prepared by Soho House chef Shane Fatemian.

The dinner was held in the garden at Our Place’s headquarters, a cookware company founded by a female immigrant, known for collaborating with Selena Gomez.
