Paris Hilton has launched an emergency fund to support victims of the wildfires, contributing $100,000 to aid in recovery efforts
After learning that her Malibu home had been destroyed in the Los Angeles wildfires, Paris Hilton announced her commitment to helping others who have suffered similar losses.
On Jan. 8, the 43-year-old businesswoman shared with her followers that she and her family had watched their home burn live on TV. The next day, she posted a video showing the damage from the Pacific Palisades fire.
On Jan. 10, Hilton expressed her readiness to assist those in need. «💔 My heart is with everyone impacted by the devastating fires here in LA,» she wrote on Instagram.
«While I’ve lost my Malibu home, my thoughts are with the countless families who have lost so much more—their homes, cherished keepsakes, the communities they loved, and their sense of stability 🙏.»
In her message, Hilton also acknowledged the heartbreaking experience of parents facing the fear of not having a safe place for their children.
She announced that she would be launching an emergency fund through her nonprofit 11:11 Media Impact to support displaced families, particularly those with young children.
«I’m starting with a personal contribution of $100,000 and will match additional donations up to $100,000 more,» she wrote, urging others to join her in supporting the cause.
Hilton is collaborating with the emergency relief organization CORE to provide short-term housing, essentials, and supplies to those affected, including support for local animal shelters.
“I’m deeply grateful to partner with [Amy Marks Dornbusch] for mobilizing private female funders, so we can start with $200,000 today,” Hilton added.
«Let’s come together for LA. Every dollar makes a difference, and we’ll make sure the support reaches those who need it most.»
The Palisades fire, which began on Jan. 7, has claimed at least 11 lives and forced 180,000 people to evacuate from their homes.
As of Jan. 10, the Palisades fire had burned nearly 21,000 acres, with only 8% containment, while the Eaton Fire had burned approximately 13,690 acres, with 3% containment.
More than 12,300 structures have been destroyed in the two fires, which are expected to be among the most costly in U.S. history.
Hilton joins other celebrities, including Adam Brody, Leighton Meester, Billy Crystal, and Anna Faris, who have also lost their homes in the devastating fires.
