According to a former aide, Kate Middleton and Prince William have no interest in «fame and celebrity» whatsoever.

A former aide to Kate Middleton and Prince William is offering new insights into the couple’s perspectives on the public life that comes with being part of the royal family.

Jason Knauf, who worked closely with the royal couple, discussed their attitudes towards the spotlight in an interview with 60 Minutes Australia, which aired on February 23.

He revealed that neither Prince William nor Princess Kate would choose to be public figures if given the option.

«They’re not interested in the fame and celebrity that comes with it. In fact, not really interested at all,» Knauf shared.

«What makes it interesting today is seeing people doing their jobs for the right reasons.»

When asked about his role in shaping the couple’s public image, Knauf explained that controlling anyone’s image in today’s media environment, especially with social media, is impossible.

«You just can’t. All you can do is help people be themselves,» he said, adding that with William and Kate, what you see publicly is also what you get behind the scenes.

Knauf, who previously served as communications secretary for William and Kate as well as Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, later became the CEO of the Prince and Princess of Wales’ Royal Foundation until late 2021.

He currently serves on the board of trustees for Prince William’s Earthshot Prize.

Prince William and Princess Kate, both in their 40s, have notably prioritized their young family.

They share three children: Prince George, 11, Princess Charlotte, 9, and Prince Louis, 6. The couple is known for adjusting their work schedules to accommodate family time, often taking breaks during school holidays.

Most recently, they enjoyed a family vacation at the private island of Mustique in the Caribbean.

In contrast to previous royal generations, William and Kate are raising their children with a focus on normalcy, often taking a hands-on approach that sets them apart from past royal parenting styles, which relied more on governesses.

A close source previously told, «They consciously set out to achieve a sense of normality.»

A royal friend added, «Royal families over the generations haven’t had the chance to get those foundations right, but they have.»

Kate, who brought a down-to-earth attitude into royal life, and William have ensured their children grow up with a sense of stability.

«Those children look pretty happy with life,» said a palace insider. «A lot of it is the stabilizing normality Kate brings — and that’s how she grew up. William absolutely loves it.»
