Karla Sofía Gascón denies negative post about Selena Gomez, stating, «I would never refer to her that way.»

Karla Sofía Gascón is adamant that she never insulted her *Emilia Pérez* co-star Selena Gomez on social media.

During an emotional interview with CNN en Español on February 2, Gascón, 52, responded to the resurfacing of old X posts that sparked accusations of racism and Islamophobia.

While she apologized for the offensive posts, she firmly denied comments allegedly made about Gomez, 32, stating they were fabricated.

Gascón addressed a controversial tweet that reportedly called Gomez a «rich rat» amid her rumored feud with Hailey Bieber. «It’s not mine, of course,» Gascón stated.

The alleged post accused Gomez of playing the «poor b——» while continuing to bother her ex, Justin Bieber, and his wife, Hailey. Gascón, however, rejected the claim, saying, «I have never said anything about my colleague. I would never refer to her that way.»

In the tearful interview, Gascón suggested the post may have been fabricated to harm her Oscar campaign during the voting period.

«People have dedicated themselves to searching through things I’ve said in the past, most of which are false…

They’ve put them together to make me seem like a very bad person, right at the moment when they could do the most damage, in the voting period,» she explained.

Despite backlash over past social media posts, Gascón confirmed she would not relinquish her Oscar nomination, emphasizing that her work as an actress is being valued.

«I am neither racist nor what people have tried to make others believe,» she stated. In a January 30 statement, she apologized for any pain caused, acknowledging her efforts to fight for a better world.

*Emilia Pérez* co-star Zoe Saldaña expressed her sadness, highlighting her commitment to inclusivity and equity in the film. Gascón, nominated for Best Actress, is part of a film with 13 nominations at the upcoming Oscars.
