Kate Middleton couldn’t resist approaching a baby during her trip to Wales with Prince William.

On February 26, the Princess of Wales visited south Wales with her husband, Prince William, to meet locals in Pontypridd and learn about the impact of severe flooding from the December 2024 storms.

As shown in fan footage, the royal couple arrived at Pontypridd Market and greeted the crowd that had gathered to see them.

Princess Kate, 43, was handed a bouquet of flowers by a well-wisher and immediately turned her attention to a baby in a blue puffer coat.

She smiled warmly and shared a moment with the child, gently resting her hand on the little one’s shoulder.

Parents to Prince George, 11, Princess Charlotte, 9, and Prince Louis, 6, the Prince and Princess of Wales are known for their genuine connection with children.

Princess Kate, in particular, is recognized for her heartfelt approach to kids and her advocacy for early childhood development.

In June 2021, she launched The Royal Foundation Centre for Early Childhood to raise awareness about the crucial first five years of a child’s life.

Her affection for children extends to her personal life, with Kate humorously admitting to feeling «broody» about having another baby.

She shared this sentiment during a 2022 solo trip to Denmark, where she met with parents and babies at the University of Copenhagen, learning about the Copenhagen Infant Mental Health Project.

«It makes me very broody,» Kate said of her time with babies. «William always worries about me meeting under 1-year-olds. I come home saying, ‘Let’s have another one.'»

Prince William, 42, jokingly acknowledged this during a trip to Scotland later that year, saying, “Can you get my wife out of here before she gets broody?” when Kate interacted with an infant at St. John’s Primary School.

Kate and William are seasoned at engaging with children on royal visits.

In January, Princess Kate surprised onlookers by stopping her convoy to greet a young girl who had been calling out, «Hello, princess!»

Kate rushed over to shake the girl’s hand and chat with her, saying, “I heard you say, ‘Hello,’ from all the way back there, and I wanted to come and see you.”

Similarly, Prince William had a lighthearted response when a young boy asked him if he was «the King» during a visit to Liverpool. «No, I’m not, no. I’m his son,» William replied.

During their outing in Wales, the couple’s warmth was once again evident.

Theresa Conner, owner of The Welsh Cake Shop, described them as «down to earth» and «personable.»

She recalled how the couple enjoyed making traditional Welsh cakes, although they had never made them before.
