Sabrina Carpenter and Dolly Parton released a country version of «Please Please Please,» with a music video hinting at Sabrina’s ex, Barry Keoghan

Sabrina Carpenter and Dolly Parton have teamed up for a special collaboration!

On February 14, the singer released a country-inspired version of her 2024 song «Please Please Please» as part of the deluxe edition of her album *Short n’ Sweet*, which also dropped on Valentine’s Day.

The new duet with the 79-year-old country legend brings a fresh twist to Carpenter’s original pop track.

They filmed a vintage-style music video, which contains a subtle reference to Carpenter’s ex, actor Barry Keoghan.

Keoghan, who was part of the original video, played a key role when he and Carpenter portrayed a couple involved in a crime drama.

In the new video, Carpenter and Parton embark on a road trip, singing along in a truck before encountering a situation that mirrors the original, with a male figure handcuffed in the back of the vehicle—reminiscent of Keoghan’s role in the first video.

The video, shot in Nashville, concludes with a chase scene and Carpenter pulling over while the man in the back attempts to escape.

The song’s lyrics are also slightly altered, with the lines «I beg you, don’t embarrass me, like the others» replacing the original version’s expletive-laden line.

Carpenter and Keoghan had an on-and-off relationship for about a year before deciding to take a break, reportedly due to their busy careers.

The former couple also made their red carpet debut at the 2024 Met Gala.

Sabrina expressed her excitement on Instagram, saying how honored she was to work with Dolly, one of her idols.

The deluxe edition of *Short n’ Sweet* features other new songs like «Busy Woman,» «15 Minutes,» «Couldn’t Make It Any Harder,» and «Bad Reviews.»

Released in August 2024, *Short n’ Sweet* quickly soared to No. 1 on the Billboard 200 for three consecutive weeks, with the opening track «Taste» also hitting No. 1 on Spotify’s US chart.
