Prior to making waves with her most recent mermaid-inspired photographs,
Hailey gained attention for sharing a post about the one-year anniversary of the mini stroke that resulted in the diagnosis of her PFO (patent foramen ovale) and how it affected her life.
«Can’t believe it’s been 1 year since I experienced a mini stroke that lead to my PFO diagnosis,» she added.
Given that a year has passed after such a life-altering tragedy, I wanted to share everything I’ve learned about PFO and sites for donations.
In the 12-minute video posted with the post, Hailey continued to discuss her PFO diagnosis, which is a «hole in the heart that didn’t close after birth,» according to the Mayo Clinic.
She explained that after experiencing a minor stroke, her arm became numb, prompting her and her husband Justin Bieber to phone 911. After the doctors removed the PFO, she fully healed.
The main feeling she had was one of relief that everything had been resolved.
«I just feel incredibly happy that we were able to get it closed, and that I will be able to move on from this really stressful scenario and just live my life,» she said.
Before writing about her anniversary, Hailey talked openly about how the diagnoses of PFO and mini stroke affected her mental health.
She acknowledged her post-traumatic stress disorder during an interview with The Run-Through with Vogue podcast.
I had some PTSD [Post Traumatic Stress Disorder] symptoms, including the dread that it would happen again.
I simply felt like I never wanted to go through that feeling again. In every single aspect you could think of, it was horrifying, shocking, and disorienting.
