Keke Palmer reveals she prefers her birth name, expressing a desire to return to it: «I’d love to go back to it»

Keke Palmer has shared her wish to return to using her birth name, Lauren, in a viral interview from 2022.

In the resurfaced clip from Glamour, Palmer, 31, expressed her desire, saying, «I would love to go back to Lauren more than anything.»

She explained the story behind her stage name, recalling that her manager at the time suggested «Keke» as a stage name after hearing her mother call her that when she wasn’t listening.

«Keke went from being something my family called me to something the whole world started calling me,» Palmer noted.

Although «Keke» became widely recognized, Palmer revealed, «I actually don’t prefer to go by Keke instead of Lauren.»

Many other celebrities, like Will Ferrell, Michael Keaton, and Emma Stone, also use stage names different from their birth names.

In a 2024 interview with *The Hollywood Reporter*, Emma Stone, 36, shared that she prefers to be called Emily, her given name, and even admitted she would welcome being called by it instead of Emma.

Stone explained that she chose «Emma Stone» as her stage name because another actress had already taken Emily Stone.

Aside from her stage name, Palmer is also celebrating her mother’s cameo in the new film *One of Them Days*.

Palmer expressed how thrilled she was to have her mother, Sharon, appear in the movie, where she plays an «Irate Tenant» in a memorable scene.

Palmer called it a «sneak peek» of her mom, jokingly referring to her as «the original.»

Palmer has always cherished her close relationship with her mother, who has been her partner in navigating her career from a young age.

*One of Them Days* is currently playing in theaters.
