According to Kristin Cavallari, she has never suggested that individuals forgo sunscreen
Kristin Cavallari, a former student of Laguna Beach, is addressing the now-famous viral video from her podcast, Let’s Be Honest, in which she stated, «Maybe we don’t need sunscreen.»
«The elephant in the room» was brought up by host Jill Dunn on July 31 during an interview for Dear Media’s Breaking Beauty podcast. She said, «I need to ask you about sunscreen because this is a beauty podcast.»
Dunn remarked, «I don’t want to mess that up, so I’m going to quote you.» «You declared, ‘I don’t use sunscreen.'» And whenever I confess that I don’t in an interview, I receive a lot of flak.
Dunn continued by describing how Cavallari questioned her visitor, holistic physician Ryan Monahan, saying, «Talk to me about the health benefits of the sun and maybe why we don’t need sunscreen.»
«A lot of times a conversation gets taken out of context and one little soundbite will get taken out, but that’s the beauty of having a podcast,» Cavallari, 37, said, adding that she was «happy you’re asking me about this.»
The topic of the chat, she went on, was the health advantages of sunlight, which it does have. It is undeniable that the sun gives us vitamin D.
But I did admit, «I don’t wear sunscreen.» «What I meant was that it’s not part of my daily skincare routine,» the Hills alumnus stated. That is my responsibility.
She did, however, state, «I never once advised someone not to wear sunscreen. I was simply expressing what I do.
I do, however, own an SPF-containing tinted moisturizer. I apply SPF to my face before heading out on vacation. I have headwear on.
While Cavallari acknowledged that she is «mindful,» she clarified to Dunn and her co-host Carlene Higgins,
«I’m from California and I love the sun, but I was in no way, shape, or form encouraging others not to wear sunscreen.» More simply, this is what I do.
