Model and television host Ashley Graham thinks there is still much to be done to promote size diversity in the modeling business.
Inclusion is crucial because fashion affects a wide range of people and is much more than just a fad. Graham asserts that even after 20 years in the business, she is still fighting for equal respect.
The 35-year-old model recently spoke out about how she feels the modeling business is unable to employ plus-sized models in many positions.
Ashley Graham attended the Washington, D.C., dinner for the 12th annual Women Making History Awards. She discussed how many women in the modeling business still face challenges in an interview,
saying that people’s resistance to diversity in the industry is to blame. The mother of three children discussed her ongoing battles for size variety. Graham remarked,
«I’ve been a model for more than 20 years, and I’m still battling today for size diversity on the runway and on the covers of magazines, movies, and television. And it has never felt finished.
Graham claims that there is still a lot more to be done in this regard. Even on the runway, people still don’t accept size diversity in the modeling business.
Graham also urged girls to speak up and advocate for size variety. The advocate on social media said,
«I believe there is still much work to be done. And for that reason, I advise younger women and women who are also battling for the causes they hold dear to simply keep going.
Keep battling and working toward the transformation you want to see.
Graham has said in the past that she detests being classified as a plus-sized model and that she detests having to talk about her figure all the time.
The actress requests that people refer to her as a woman rather than a plus-sized model.
