Jolie and Pitt’s daughter Shiloh took an important step in changing her name
Shiloh Jolie-Pitt, the daughter of Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, is moving forward with her official name change application.
An attorney for Shiloh announced the 18-year-old’s plans to proceed with her new nickname in the Los Angeles Times more than a month after filing paperwork to remove the «Pitt» from her hyphenated surname, according to TMZ.
According to the site, the note announced that she will now go by Shiloh Nouvel Jolie-Pitt instead of Shiloh Nouvel Jolie.
A name change request in California must be published in the local newspaper as required by law. According to the state’s court website,
«You must publish in a newspaper of general circulation that publishes legal notices in the county where you file your case.»
Shiloh, who turned eighteen on May 27, submitted her desire to alter her name.
Shiloh, the fourth oldest of Angelina and Brad Pitt’s children, Maddox, 22, Pax, 20, and Zahara, 19, as well as the twins Vivienne and Knox, 15,
is privately supporting the case by employing her own attorney, a source close to the situation previously told E! News.
She is not the only member of the family, though, who favors a shortened last name. At a Spelman College sorority initiation ceremony in November, Zahara introduced herself without include Pitt’s last name in her nickname.
More recently, when working with her mother on the Broadway musical The Outsiders, Vivienne chose to have her name appear just as Angelina on the bill.
In any case, Brad and Angelina have also changed their birth names. The Girl, Interrupted actress chose to go by her middle name instead of her father Jon Voight’s last name when she performed,
and the Fight Club alumnus was born William Bradley Pitt before assuming a stage name.
