Kelsea Ballerini halts her concert mid-song to address fans, urging them to stop criticizing her ex-husband Morgan Evans: «We’re three years beyond that.»
Kelsea Ballerini is making it clear that supporting her doesn’t require fans to attack her ex-husband, Morgan Evans.
While on her tour promoting her latest album Patterns, Ballerini paused her performance of the emotional track «Penthouse» during a show at Hard Rock Live in Hollywood, Florida, on February 23, after fans began shouting insults directed at Evans.

The song, which talks about moving on from a relationship, saw the crowd passionately singing along to the powerful lyrics in the bridge: «It hurts putting s— in a box / And now we don’t talk / And it stings rolling up the welcome mat / Knowing you got half.»
In a video shared on TikTok, Ballerini stopped mid-song after hearing fans scream obscenities following the line «you got half.»
She addressed the crowd, saying, «Guys, we have to stop saying that.»

In the comments section, fans mentioned that some were directing profanity at Evans.
Ballerini, who filed for divorce from Evans in August 2022 after nearly five years of marriage, responded, «Seriously, we’re three years past it, everything’s fine now.»
She added, «I sing the song for you now, it’s not about me anymore, please.»

Ballerini then encouraged the crowd, «Alright, for everyone that’s moving forward with their life, will you sing this with me?»
Her tour continues with her next performance at the Dickies Arena in Fort Worth, Texas, on February 26, before moving on to cities like Seattle, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Kansas City, and Pittsburgh.
The tour will conclude on April 13 at the Scotiabank Arena in Toronto.

Ballerini, who is currently dating actor Chase Stokes, shared with Byrdie how date nights with him are just as meaningful as the glamorous moments, saying, «Things that seem mundane suddenly become like, ‘OK, you’re such an important part of my mundanity now.'»
She added that it doesn’t diminish the significance of special moments, like attending a premiere for Stokes or watching him perform at Madison Square Garden.
