Martha Stewart has adopted a 4-year-old Persian cat named Magnolia, calling her a «wonderful addition to my menagerie.»
Martha Stewart is expanding her family with a new furry friend! On Friday, Jan. 17, the 83-year-old lifestyle icon shared the exciting news of adopting a cat through an Instagram post.
«Meet Magnolia, a stunning four-year-old silver-shaded Persian cat and the latest addition to my family,» she wrote.
Stewart adopted Magnolia from @rocknrescue_, a non-profit organization based in Bedford Hills, NY, and encouraged others to consider adoption when looking for a pet.
A lifelong animal enthusiast, Stewart shared more about her adoption journey on her blog, detailing her visit to the rescue, which is close to her Cantitoe Corners farm in Katonah, NY.
She had heard much about Magnolia and was eager to meet the cat, so she made an appointment to visit and took her home the same day.
«I’ve always loved Persians and had been considering adding another to my family,» Stewart explained. «Magnolia came home with me that afternoon and is now part of the family.»
At Cantitoe Corners, Stewart is surrounded by an array of animals, including Chow Chows, French bulldogs, Bengal cats, horses, donkeys, peacocks, chickens, and geese.
Describing Magnolia, Stewart said, «Persians are medium-to-large cats known for their round, flat faces and long, flowing coats.
Magnolia is a beautiful silver-shaded Persian with golden-copper eyes and a sweet, friendly personality.»
This adoption follows the loss of Stewart’s beloved tri-color Persian, Empress Tang, in April 2024. Empress Tang, who was nearly 15 years old, had been a cherished member of the family since 2009.
Stewart previously lost Empress Tang’s sister, Princess Peony, in a tragic accident in 2022.
«Magnolia is still adjusting to her new home, but she’s doing wonderfully and will make a great addition to my menagerie,» Stewart concluded, adding, «Welcome home, Magnolia. Pet adoption… it’s a very good thing.»
