Miranda Cosgrove says she’ll be getting her last film after its sudden cancellation and she’s very happy about it
Miranda Cosgrove is sure she will be able to bid Carly Shay farewell in style.
Fans were incensed by the sudden cancellation of the iCarly comeback at Paramount+ in October 2023, as well as the unfulfilled answers to the season 3 cliffhanger.
Cosgrove, who has intermittently played the title role since 2007, told Variety that there was a good chance she and the ensemble would be coming back for a film that aims to resolve any loose ends.
She grinned, «I’m pretty sure it’s gonna happen.» «I’m thrilled about this, and I would really like to finish the story.»
In the closing seconds of the third season finale, Cosgrove’s main character Carly nearly wed Freddie Benson (Nathan Kress), her former best friend who had since become her fiance.
The appearance of Carly’s mother and that of her older brother Spencer Shay (Jerry Trainor), who has never been seen and is almost ever mentioned in either the original series or its spinoff, was even more shocking.
The iconic comedy web series iCarly, which propelled Carly Shay to popularity on the internet during its original run, was revived in the revival series, which followed Shay.
The original Nickelodeon series aired for six seasons from 2007 until 2012.
Cosgrove revealed in May how much she wanted to go back and how much the audience wanted to see the plot resolved.
«It was definitely a terrific experience for me to be able to return and do it for a few seasons. However, she expressed her desire to somehow conclude the story to Entertainment Tonight. «Maybe, hopefully, someday, we’ll still do it.»
«I think it would probably be more akin to a movie, which would sort of conclude everything or something like. Thus, that’s my goal,» she continued.
