Neighbor Wes Bergmann claims that Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce began their relationship well before their public debut together.
Travis Kelce’s neighbor, Wes Bergmann, has sparked a conversation about the early stages of the Kansas City Chiefs player’s relationship with Taylor Swift.
Bergmann, who is known for embellishing his stories, appeared on The Social Game Podcast in February, where he shared his insider knowledge about the couple.
However, after his comments gained attention, Bergmann took to X (formerly Twitter) on March 4 to clarify his earlier statements.
«Omg y’all I’m so sorry and confused,» Bergmann wrote. «Everything being reported on is none of my business.
My contribution to this was taken out of context and said in what I thought was relative obscurity, but it obviously wasn’t.»
He continued, «He moved in November, that’s all I know. I told Michele, who is a giant fan, hey this is serious.
She didn’t believe me for six months. That was the intention of the comment.»
He concluded, «Again it was taken out of context but I shouldn’t be talking about it anyway, so consider this the last time I do.»
In the original podcast episode, Nalbandian mentioned that one of the first things she learned about Bergmann was that he lives next to Kelce.
Bergmann then revealed that, living in the exclusive gated community of Leawood in Kansas City, he was aware of Kelce’s relationship with the «Bad Blood» singer months before it was made public.
“He’s an enigma — on one hand, he’s like this big, tough football player,” Bergmann said about Kelce.
“On the other, he’s going to have about 12 Taylor Swift songs written about him.”
Bergmann went on to explain that when he first told Survivor winner Michele Fitzgerald about the relationship, she didn’t believe him.
“Okay and on that note, I was like the first person to know about any of this stuff and I tried to tell this woman a long time ago,” he said, referring to Fitzgerald. » ‘They are together, just so you know’ and she didn’t believe it.»
Bergmann continued, saying Fitzgerald initially doubted the relationship due to Swift’s history of dating artists.
«She loves a brooding artist, usually they are a bit scrawnier, they’re kind of like womanizers in a lot of ways.
And then you have him who seems chivalrous, an all-American football player and he has just been winning and crushing.»
Bergmann described Kelce as «the boy next door,» while Nalbandian called him the “winner of girly chat” for being one of the first to know about the couple’s relationship.
Kelce attended Swift’s Era tour on July 8, 2023, and rumors of their romance began circulating after Swift was spotted attending some of his games.
Swift and The 1975 frontman Matty Healy were no longer romantically involved, while Kelce had previously been in a relationship with fitness model Kayla Nicole.
It wasn’t until October 2023 that Swift and Kelce’s relationship was publicly confirmed when they were seen together at a Saturday Night Live afterparty.
Swift later shared with Time in December 2023, «This all started when Travis very adorably put me on blast on his podcast, which I thought was metal as hell.
We started hanging out right after that. So we actually had a significant amount of time that no one knew, which I’m grateful for, because we got to get to know each other.
