Ryan Reynolds will do anything to make his wife and kids happy.

The dad of four, 47, shared about how he gets mentally and physically fit to play Deadpool — along with what his family thinks of the process — in a new interview with Variety.

«It’s not so much about the aesthetic, though I have to fill out the suit. But you want people to see that you’re putting in the work,» explained Reynolds in an interview alongside his Deadpool & Wolverine costar Hugh Jackman and director Shawn Levy.

«It makes me feel like I earned it. I have an intense relationship with Deadpool,» he said. «My middle daughter said, ‘Daddy, when can you stop Deadpooling?’ I was like, ‘Soon, baby. I promise.’ »

After Levy, 55, joked that Reynolds needs «to stop wearing that mask in the house,» Jackman, 55, chimed in, expressing, «Yeah, that’s getting weird.»

Reynolds joked, «It is weird. Listen, Blake [Lively] insists, so I just do it.»

He and Lively, 36, are parents to daughters James, 9, Inez, 7, Betty, 4, and a fourth baby, which they welcomed in February 2023.

Deadpool & Wolverine marks the third film in the franchise, following its 2016 original film and 2018 sequel.

In February, Levy told PEOPLE that Reynolds and Jackman’s onscreen chemistry is «electric.»

«I knew they were professionals. I knew they were the loveliest of gentlemen, but when you see them as Deadpool and Wolverine, something electric happens,» he said. »

And you’re in the presence of icons and even as their good buddy, that gave me a thrill many a day. Hugh, Ryan, and I are very good friends in real life. We spend a lot of time together in real life.»
