Taylor Swift addresses the ‘heartbreaking’ L.A. fires, urging fans to donate and highlighting the immense suffering and loss
Taylor Swift is extending her support to those impacted by the devastating Los Angeles fires.
The 14-time Grammy winner, 35, made significant donations on Thursday, Jan. 16, to several organizations aiding relief efforts, including Habitat for Humanity of Greater Los Angeles, the Los Angeles Fire Department Foundation, and the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank.
«The fires in California have caused unimaginable loss for so many families,» Swift shared on her Instagram Stories.
«It’s heartbreaking to see such suffering and destruction. However, there are incredible organizations stepping up to help rebuild these communities.»
Swift listed and tagged groups she supported, encouraging her followers to donate if possible.
Among the beneficiaries were 211 LA, the California Community Foundation Relief, Direct Relief, and the Pasadena Educational Foundation Eaton Fires Response Fund.
This isn’t Swift’s first act of generosity. In October, she donated $5 million to aid victims of Hurricanes Helene and Milton.
«Taylor Swift’s support is making a tremendous impact, helping us provide essential supplies to those in need,» said Claire Babineaux-Fontenot, CEO of Feeding America.
In December 2023, she contributed $1 million to assist Tennessee residents recovering from a deadly tornado.
Swift has also made donations to food banks throughout her Eras Tour, supporting communities in cities like Detroit, Tampa, and Glendale, Ariz., as well as locations in the United Kingdom.
The Los Angeles fires, fueled by strong winds and dry vegetation since Jan. 7, have caused widespread destruction, forcing thousands to evacuate and claiming 25 lives, according to the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner.
