Taylor Swift thanks Alvin, whom all the girls loved before her, in a new soոg
On March 17, Swifties received a unique gift from the singer. Taylor released four new songs just before her Eras Tour’s opening show.
«If This Was A Movie,» «Eyes Wide,» and «Safe and Sound» from Speak Now, as well as the soundtracks of The Hunger Games, were all re-recordings of songs she had previously released.
It’s believed that the fourth song, «All of the Girls You Loved Before,» didn’t make it onto Taylor’s 2019 album Lover.
In the song «All of the Ladies You Loved Before,» Taylor pays tribute to all the women her ex-boyfriend has dated in the past.
All indications point to Taylor’s current boyfriend, Joe Alwyn, as the man in question because it was allegedly on Lover (Taylor and Joe have been dating since 2016).
Taylor acknowledges in the song that without the people from Joe’s past, he wouldn’t be who he is today, thus she can remember lovingly of those other women.
«All of the females you loved before, made you the one I’ve fallen for,» Taylor sings in the chorus.
You came to me along every dead end street, and now you’re all I need. I love you more and I’m so grateful for all the girls you’ve previously loved.
The second verse includes Taylor reflecting on her own previous heartbreaks and assuring Joe that those mistakes made her the lady he fell in love with.
Of course, the same is true for Taylor’s ex-boyfriends. «Secret jokes, all alone, no one’s home, sixteen and wild,» she sings in verse two.
«We’re splitting up, making out, and taking off without saying good-bye. Be aware that everything contributed to my creation. I’m now calling you baby.
Taylor has discussed how the past has shaped all she is today in previous songs. In the song «Invisible String» from 2020,
she sings about how she and Joe have always been connected by a «invisible string,» even when they weren’t yet acquainted.
In her song, Taylor refers to Joe hearing her song and eating at her favorite restaurant before they became romantically involved.
«Bad was the blood of the song in the cab on your first trip to LA, you ate at my favorite spot for supper,» she sings.
In recent weeks, Taylor has been busy practicing for her Eras tour. On March 17, she begins her nearly five-month run of performances in Glendale, Arizona.
