Zoe Saldaña Shares Heartfelt Tribute to Husband Marco Perego After Winning BAFTA Award: ‘You Are So Beautiful!’
At the 2025 BAFTA Awards, Zoe Saldaña took home the prize for Best Supporting Actress for her performance in Emilia Pérez.

The actress, who was competing against Jamie Lee Curtis, Selena Gomez, Ariana Grande, Felicity Jones, and Isabella Rossellini, gave an emotional acceptance speech at the 78th annual ceremony on February 16.
Saldaña, 46, shared her gratitude, saying, “I was told not to cry by my children, so I’m going to try. This is so validating and a true honor.”
She expressed her appreciation for director Jacques Audiard and her cast and crew, who she said «poured their hearts into the film.»

The actress also gave a loving shoutout to her family, thanking her mother for her selflessness and her husband, Marco Perego, for his support.
“Thanks to you, I’m able to do anything I want. My husband, you are God’s favorite and I hate it — but you are so beautiful!”
Saldaña, who shares three sons with Perego, also praised the film’s creative challenge and the opportunity to portray a lawyer helping a Mexican drug lord transition into a woman.
She previously won a Golden Globe and Critics’ Choice Award for her role in Emilia Pérez.

Other notable nominees included Ariana Grande for her role in *Wicked*, Jamie Lee Curtis for The Last Showgirl, and Selena Gomez for Emilia Pérez.
Saldaña’s co-star, Karla Sofía Gascón, was not present at the BAFTAs following controversy over past social media posts, which led to her deactivating her X account and issuing an apology.
*Emilia Pérez*, which received 11 BAFTA nominations, explores the transformation of a Mexican drug lord, played by Gascón, with Saldaña in a key supporting role.
Saldaña’s win adds to a successful awards season, as she continues to be recognized for her impressive performance in the critically acclaimed film.
