Ariana Grande Reacts to Fan-Edited ‘Wicked’ Posters of Cynthia Erivo’s Elphaba, Finds AI ‘Troublesome’

With a few fashionable adjustments, the costars paid tribute to their roles in their jaw-dropping red carpet looks.

Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo look stunning!

Despite giving their fairytale appearances a bit of a modern twist, the Wicked cast members embraced method dressing for their forthcoming movie as they attended the fourth annual Academy Museum of Motion Pictures Gala in Los Angeles on Saturday, October 19.

Erivo, 37, showed up in her first of two outfits of the evening in a bespoke green strapless gown by Louis Vuitton, which matched the color of her Wicked character Elphaba.

The garment had bubble hem and elaborate beading.

The actress accented her ensemble with similar drop earrings and a stack of green-stoned silver bracelets and rings. She sported a brown lip and dazzling green makeup.

Instead of wearing the pink that Glinda is renowned for, Grande, 31, donned a bespoke Balmain 1963 couture gown in a black and white polka dot strapless design, embodying the fairytale princess image of her Wicked character Glinda the Good Witch – with a twist.

The dress had a long skirt, a fitting black waistline, and a bow design over the breast.

Before entering with additional guests, the couple stood on the red carpet beside celebrities including Rita Moreno, Jeff Goldblum, and Lena Waithe.

Later, Erivo changed her appearance for the gala, performing in a more form-fitting, modern long-sleeved dress adorned with emerald green rhinestones.

The sophisticated dress included structured shoulders, a gathered skirt design, and an outer layer of transparent fabric.

Salma Hayek, Nicole Kidman, Eva Longoria, and Tyler Perry, who are the gala co-chairs for 2024, were among the star-studded guests at the annual extravaganza, which also honored Moreno, 92, Paul Mescal, and Quentin Tarantino.

Erivo and Grande are getting ready for the autumn release of Universal’s Wicked film adaption, which is based on Gregory Maguire’s 1995 book Wicked:

The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West.

The novel has also been adapted into a Broadway musical that won a Tony Award.

The women wore their characters’ characteristic colors at the opening ceremony of the 2024 Olympics in Paris during the summer.

With the Eiffel Tower serving as their background, they posed side by side for photographers on the special day.

Thom Browne created a stylish pastel pink ensemble for the «thank u, next» singer.

Grande wore a midi-length duchess silk satin dress with a single bow around the drop waist, channeling her inner Glinda.

She accessorized her look with white silk gloves and a matching bow in her hair. Her bright pink pointed-toe shoes completed the ensemble.

Adding a wide-brimmed hat for more witchy drama, Erivo showed off her style in a strapless emerald-green midi dress.

The actress from Harriet seemed like a villain because of her long nails.

She paired her Parisian ensemble with gems by Roberto Coin.

Alongside Grande and Erivo, Jeff Goldblum (The Wizard), Michelle Yeoh, Jonathan Bailey, Bowen Yang, Keala Settle, and Ethan Slater will also feature in the Jon M. Chu-directed movie.

Nov. 22 is when Wicked: Part One opens in cinemas. The date of Part Two is November 26, 2025.
