For Halloween, Beyoncé is honoring Prince’s Purple Rain!
In an Instagram photo on November 1, the 43-year-old Grammy winner turned herself into the late music great, as well as Apollonia, the singer and actress who played alongside Prince in the 1984 rock musical.
In some of the other pictures, Beyoncé, sporting a precisely styled wig, wore Prince’s famous purple coat and boots from the film, clutching a matching guitar.
In other photos, the «Crazy in Love» singer resembled Apollonia while wearing a bodysuit and black jacket. In one, she even wore nothing on her head.
With the comment, «PURPLE NASTY 💜,» the mother of three posted on Instagram.
On Instagram that same day, Beyoncé posted additional pictures of herself in costume as singer and former Miles Davis wife Betty Davis.
With the message, «BETTY DAVIS IN MY BONES 🎸,» the singer wrote.
Fans believe Beyoncé is hinting to the theme of her upcoming album, which will be the third in a planned trilogy, based on her previous tributes to the rock stars.
The first was the singer’s 2022 album Renaissance, and the second was Cowboy Carter, which came out in March.
Beyoncé said in a March Instagram post that Cowboy Carter was motivated by «an experience that I had years ago where I did not feel welcomed,» whereas Renaissance examined themes of resiliency, pride, and pleasure.
«The criticisms I faced when I first entered this genre forced me to propel past the limitations that were put on me,» she said.
«Act ii is a result of challenging myself, and taking my time to bend and blend genres together to create this body of work.»
Beyoncé said, «I viewed this album as an extension of RENAISSANCE.» «I hope this music is an experience, creating another journey where you can close your eyes, start from the beginning and never stop.»
