Heidi Klum is making her return to *Project Runway* after an 8-year hiatus (Exclusive)
After a long hiatus, Heidi Klum is returning to *Project Runway* — eight years after stepping down from the hit competition series in 2018.
Klum, 51, originally hosted the show from 2004 to 2017, with her final appearance being during the season 16 finale in November 2017. During her time as host, she won an Emmy Award in 2013, sharing the honor with her close friend and co-host Tim Gunn.
Klum was nominated an impressive nine times throughout her tenure, with the show itself receiving numerous nominations over the years. *Project Runway*, which started on Bravo before shifting to Lifetime and then back to Bravo, will now be available on Freeform, Disney+, and Hulu.
The series has introduced countless talented designers since its debut in 2004, and Klum was there for many of their journeys, famously bidding them farewell with her signature “auf wiedersehen” when they were eliminated each week.
The show has seen the introduction of *All Stars* seasons, where former contestants returned for another shot at victory, as well as *Project Runway: Junior*, which highlighted young, emerging designers.
Past contestants like Gunnar Deatherage (who designed for Chappell Roan), Irina Shabayeva, and, of course, Christian Siriano, who won Season 4 and later became a renowned fashion designer, have achieved significant success after their time on the show.
Throughout her hosting years, Klum infused her own vibrant personality into *Project Runway*, showcasing not just her signature style, but a flair for bringing energy to every episode.
Whether it was in a chic wide-leg pantsuit, a metallic plunging minidress, or an iconic early-2000s curled bob, Klum always made a memorable impression.
After 16 seasons, Klum and Gunn stepped away from *Project Runway*, with Klum saying at the time, “After 16 incredible seasons, I am saying ‘Auf Wiedersehen’ to *Project Runway*, a show that I was honored to host and help create. It will always have a special place in my heart.”
Reflecting on their departure, Klum compared the show to their «baby,» noting it was time for new challenges, which led to their new venture, *Making the Cut*, on Amazon Prime Video.
Klum now returns to *Project Runway* for its 21st season, which will feature 10 weekly episodes, though judges and premiere details are still to be revealed. After Klum and Gunn left, Karlie Kloss hosted Seasons 17 and 18, while Christian Siriano served as mentor, later taking on both roles in Seasons 19 and 20.
