Here’s how Sarah Jessica Parker is bringing the classic blouse back, 24 years later
If you couldn’t help but wonder why Sarah Jesscia Parker’s latest outfit on the set of And Just Like That… looked so familiar, that’s because you’ve seen it before.
The actress was spotted filming season 3 of the Sex and the City reboot in New York City on Aug. 28, wearing a 2000s-coded outfit from the show’s fashion archives.
On set, Parker (as Carrie Bradshaw) wore a billowing sheer Chanel blouse covered in a colorful motif, including hearts featuring the label’s double “C” logo.
The blouse first entered the SATC universe on Sept. 24, 2000, when the episode “Hot Child in the City” first aired.
Back then, Carrie teamed the piece with a pair of tie-dye purple capris, a turquoise bandana around her ponytail and vibrant ankle-strap pumps.
With the statement-making Chanel top, the entire getup was truly a memorable one, often included in roundups of quintessential Carrie Bradshaw style moments.
In its new life, though, the shirt was toned down with a violet drop-waist skirt and chartreuse heels featuring tie-dye straps.
When PEOPLE spoke with AJLT costume designers, Molly Rogers and Danny Santiago, when the show debuted in December 2021, the duo revealed how they wanted to dress the Carrie of today.
«I think one of the biggest things that was important for Carrie’s look in this new show was to continue mixing high and low, vintage and thrifted because that’s kind of the DNA of the original show.
Carrie was never in — maybe a few times — but never in the complete runway look. It’s all about mixing those great used pieces and a modern piece,» Rogers said.
