«I’m not shy about my femininity»: Heidi Klum hits back at fashion critics

«I want to have fun and show my body, but I have boundaries,» stated the model.

Heidi Klum is self-assured about her wardrobe choices.

The 51-year-old German supermodel is responding to detractors who had disparaging remarks on her wardrobe.

«I don’t hide my femininity. In an interview with The Times published on November 1, Klum stated, «I love dressing up where I have my cleavage showing, wearing miniskirts, high heels, and gorgeous stockings — but that doesn’t mean I want to go home with you.»

According to Klum, her «personality» is simply reflected in her style.

«Why not? Like other women, I have limitations, but I want to enjoy myself and flaunt my body,» she added.

The former Victoria’s Secret Angel discussed how her early upbringing influenced her passion in fashion in other parts of the conversation.

Every year, Cologne had a carnival, and I used to ride the float. I always had a lot of clothes since my grandma was a seamstress, or my mother would make me and my Barbie matching clothes.

It’s great because Mattel called me one day and I now have my own Barbie,» Klum added.

In 2009, the America’s Got Talent judge received her own recognizable doll.

Around the time of the Barbie 50th Anniversary show during Fashion Week, a preview of Barbie’s Blonde Ambition Collection—which included a number of blondes in entertainment and fashion—was released.

Klum said in her interview with The Times that there was one aspect of the dolls that she found incomprehensible.

The fact that they were nude always bothered me. The fact that none of them wore underpants bothered me; it’s not respectable.

Mine is painted with a bra and a lovely pair of pink underwear. I take great pride in that,» she continued.

But it’s not just her racier appearance that draws attention to the former Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue cover girl; throughout the years, her daring and extravagant costume choices have made her a Halloween queen.

Klum and her husband, Tom Kaulitz, showed up as male and female E.T. from Steven Spielberg’s 1982 film E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial on October 31 for her 23rd annual Halloween Party at the Hard Rock Hotel New York: The Venue on Music Row.

Because he has been «part of most of our lives,» Klum said on the red carpet, she went as E.T., referring to herself as «a big fan.»

«[I] kind of thought about the universe in a different way and I thought E.T. was so cute and how he was wiggling around and all the moments when E.T. got dressed up with a wig and everything so I just thought it would be fun to become E.T. and especially to see two,» she stated.
