On Saturday, January 4, Jennifer Lopez and Ralph Fiennes shared a heartwarming reunion at the Variety 10 Directors to Watch and Creative Impact Awards brunch in Palm Springs, California.
The occasion saw Fiennes, 60, presenting Lopez, 55, with the prestigious Legend and Groundbreakers award.
Fiennes, who portrayed politician Chris Marshall in the 2002 romantic comedy *Maid in Manhattan*, praised Lopez’s «incredible skills» and fondly recalled their time working together.
He highlighted that being a true legend and groundbreaker goes beyond mere talent, emphasizing that «spirit» is what truly elevates an artist.

Fiennes joked, «I’m the senator, if you didn’t know,» referencing his *Maid in Manhattan* role, adding that Lopez’s «powerful energy» leaves the men behind.
He praised her as «incredible» and mentioned her film *Unstoppable* as a «story of heroism, love, and courage.»
Lopez thanked Fiennes for the honor, saying it «means more to me than words can express.» She emphasized her passion for championing «stories that matter» and expressed admiration for Fiennes, recalling their time working together.

Lopez joked about their *Maid in Manhattan* history, saying, «We really must stop meeting in hotels like this,» referencing Fiennes’ character falling for her maid character.
Fiennes previously admitted he didn’t fully grasp his character in the film due to his limited knowledge of American politics, calling the role «light» rom-com writing.
He also paid tribute to his late *Maid in Manhattan* co-star, Natasha Richardson, who passed away in 2009, describing her as a «wonderful, kind, open, generous host» and a «great actress» whose friendship he deeply valued.
