Jennifer Lopez’s new film Unstoppable underperforms at the UK box office ahead of its streaming release, adding to her challenging year

Jennifer Lopez’s new film Unstoppable has struggled at the UK box office, pulling in just £3,112 over its opening weekend and dropping out of cinemas after only one week

The film, which portrays the story of wrestler Anthony Robles with Lopez starring as his mother Judy, ranked as the 55th most-watched movie upon release, according to The Sun.

A source revealed to MailOnline that the film’s brief theatrical run was a «qualifying run» to be eligible for awards season.

Unstoppable will officially be released worldwide on Amazon Prime Video on January 16.

This setback follows a tough year for Lopez, as her latest album, This Is Me… Now, debuted at number 55 on the UK Albums Chart and number 38 on the US Billboard 200.

In May, Jennifer Lopez was forced to cancel her This Is Me… Live tour and later confirmed her split from Ben Affleck in divorce documents.

Unstoppable had a limited theatrical release starting December 6 and will be available on streaming from January 16. The film tells the story of wrestler Anthony Robles, who won a national championship in 2011 despite being born with one leg.

The sports drama also stars Jharrel Jerome, Bobby Cannavale, Michael Pena, and Don Cheadle.

After canceling her tour, J-Lo shared she was «heartsick and devastated» to disappoint fans and retreated from the spotlight to focus on her children.

Speaking on The Graham Norton Show in November, she said taking time off to be with her kids was «the best thing I have ever done» and apologized to fans for the tour cancellation.

Jennifer Lopez recalled meeting a fan the day before her talk show appearance, who had bought a ticket to one of her canceled concerts. The fan told her, «Don’t say sorry, we love you,» which made her emotional and brought her to tears.

Later, she was moved to discover that the fan was in the studio audience, exclaiming, «Was that you? I don’t believe it,» before giving him a big hug.

In addition to her career challenges, Jennifer filed for divorce from Ben Affleck in August 2022, on the two-year anniversary of their wedding.

Their relationship had captured headlines when they rekindled their romance in 2021, nearly 17 years after ending their original engagement and postponing their 2003 wedding.

A source revealed that Ben Affleck was thrilled to spend Thanksgiving volunteering with his family, serving meals to the homeless. Ben shared that he feels he can «just be himself» around Jennifer Garner and their kids.

Despite their split, the insider noted that Ben feels a sense of comfort with Jen due to their strong relationship and shared history, especially as the mother of his children.
