Jessica Simpson’s comiոg of age series, which was based on her autobiography, was halted

Amazon Freevee has canceled the scripted pilot based on Jessica Simpson’s coming-of-age memoir Open Book.

The program, which is based on the best-selling memoir of the same name by the 42-year-old singer and was written by Californication’s Tom Kapinos, was supposed to have her as one of the executive producers.

According to Deadline, the idea is currently being pitched to various production firms after Amazon Freevee decided not to purchase the pilot last October as originally planned.

Sadie Sparrow, a rising vocalist in the pilot, is based on Katelyn Tarver, 33, a former cast member of The Dukes of Hazzard.

John Stamos, 59, would play Butch Thorn, a divorced former singer/songwriter who battled alcoholism and self-destructive tendencies, in addition to Tarver.

According to the logline, Open Book follows pop star Sadie Sparrow as she develops into a successful musician.

As the series progresses, viewers are introduced to «the family, friends and lovers she collects along the way» and «[touches] on themes of love,

friendship, divorce, family, sisterhood, relationships, soul connections, Hollywood, and the music business.»

The singer of In last Skin, who last week celebrated Birdie’s fourth birthday, will publish her autobiography in February 2020.

Around 500,000 copies of Open Book were sold in 121 nations in the first 14 weeks.

Her memoir at the time rose to the top of the list of female entertainer memoirs in terms of sales.

Simpson detailed her life narrative in Open Book, including how she came to discover fame and other events.

She also discussed her first marriage to Nick Lachey and their supposedly disastrous union.

After four years of marriage, the former couple filed for divorce in 2006, and Simpson later revealed the true cause of their breakup in her book.

When filing for divorce, the couple stated that they had «irreconcilable differences,» but Simpson later admitted that they had started to fake their union to seem like «the perfect couple.»

She discussed her love life, her battle with substance misuse, and the childhood trauma she endured as a young girl in her autobiography.

Simpson had revealed that she had inked a multimedia rights agreement with Amazon the same year as the publication of her book.

A number of short stories published by Amazon Original Stories were also part of the deal.
