Prince William and Princess Kate shared a heartfelt Christmas card featuring a family photo with Prince George, 11, Princess Charlotte, 9, and Prince Louis, 6. Taken in Norfolk, where the family resides for the holidays, the image was originally part of a video filmed in August.

The card, placed on a table with a sparkling tree behind, included the message: «Wishing you a very Happy Christmas and New Year.» Departing from tradition, the couple reused a familiar photo instead of unveiling a new one.

The family was last seen publicly at Princess Kate’s Together at Christmas carol service on Dec. 6 at Westminster Abbey.

“It’s wonderful to see them all together after such a challenging year,” said Sophie Mirman, creative director of Trotters, the brand behind Charlotte’s coat

Prince William and Princess Kate prioritize a normal childhood for their children, which means limited public appearances.

This year also saw Kate step back from royal duties after announcing her cancer diagnosis and chemotherapy following planned abdominal surgery in January. Kate spent most of 2024 focusing on her health, sharing in September that she had completed treatment.

Her Together at Christmas carol service in December marked her most significant public event since the announcement, where she shared a personal moment with a performer.

On Dec. 6, Princess Kate reflected on a challenging year, saying, «I didn’t know this year was going to be the year that I’ve just had…the unplanned.»

Her experience has shifted her priorities at home and in royal duties, with biographer Sally Bedell Smith noting, «She is in control of her return to public life.»

Next week, the Wales family will celebrate Christmas at Sandringham with King Charles, who is also undergoing cancer treatment.

Despite missing the Dec. 19 Christmas lunch at Buckingham Palace, they are expected to join the traditional walk to church and annual festivities, cherishing time with loved ones after a difficult year.
