Katie Holmes doesn’t wear makeup In NYC, before the Broadway production of Our Town
Before Tuesday night’s showing of Broadway’s Our Town, Katie Holmes was seen arriving at the Barrymore Theatre in New York City.
The 45-year-old actress co-stars with Jim Parsons and Zoey Deutch from The Big Bang Theory in the much anticipated production of Thornton Wilder’s Pulitzer Prize-winning drama.
Holmes, who will soon be reunited with her daughter during Thanksgiving, appeared prepared to take the stage while carrying a bottle of water and a Starbucks to-go cup.
She was wearing a black T-shirt, a burgundy wool Falconeri sweater, and a loose gray denim jacket.
The single mother accessorized her ensemble with yellow satin ballerina flats and a burgundy silk maxi skirt.
Holmes grinned at onlookers and entered the ancient theater without wearing makeup.
She carried her basics in a red leather luxury purse and wore her wavy brown hair down.
After weeks of previews beginning on September 17, Our Town made its official Broadway comeback in October.
Jim Parsons, Zoey Deutch, Ephraim Sykes, Julie Halston, and Michelle Wilson are among the more varied cast members of the 1938 play’s revival.
In a promotional video posted on social media, Holmes stated, «We have this wonderful, beautiful group of actors and we’ve all been working hard to bring this to the stage and it’s very exciting.»
Holmes plays Emily’s mother, Mrs. Webb, in Deutsch’s main character. Mr. Webb is portrayed by Richard Thomas, who is famous from The Waltons.
Holmes discussed the fresh approach to the universal tale and his experience working on the production in an interview with Playbill.
In reference to director Kenny Leon, the Dawson’s Creek alum stated, «He didn’t want this to be a play about nostalgia.»
«He intended for this to be a play about village life against humanity and the stars.»
After her 18-year-old daughter Suri left for college at Carnegie Mellon in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Holmes found herself an empty nester.
She and her 62-year-old ex-husband Tom Cruise are parents to the teen.
Katie talked about her daughter moving away to attend the university in an August interview with Town & Country.
«I’m pleased with my daughter.» «I’m really proud of her and I’m happy, but of course I will miss the close proximity,» the actress said to the publication.
«I recall being at this age, at this beginning period.»
«It makes me happy to think about it that way because I loved that time and it’s exciting to learn about yourself.»
Holmes will remain with Our Town until January 19.
