Katie Holmes Shines on Broadway in a Stylish Black costume at Our Town’s Opening Night
In addition to Jim Parsons, Zoey Deutch, Ephraim Sykes, and Richard Thomas, the revival received fantastic reviews.
Once more, Katie Holmes is a Broadway baby!
On Thursday, October 10, the 45-year-old actress made her theatrical debut on the first night of the highly acclaimed staging of Thornton Wilder’s Our Town when the city was illuminated by the northern lights.
The Tony Award-winning Kenny Leon’s new production of the Pulitzer Prize-winning play, which has been off the road for almost 25 years, opened to a rousing reception at the Barrymore Theatre in New York City.
Many reviewers praised Holmes’ performance in this timeless classic.
Holmes hasn’t been on the boards for more than ten years; he last appeared in Dead Accounts in 2012. In the 2008 production of All My Sons, she made her stage debut.
This time around, Holmes is a member of an incredible ensemble cast consisting of Jim Parsons, Julie Halston, Michelle Wilson, Ephraim Sykes, Richard Thomas, Zoey Deutch, and Donald Webber Jr. At curtain call, they were showered with enthusiastic applause and standing ovations from an excited crowd, all of whom had big smiles on their faces.
The actors posed for cameras on the red carpet earlier in the evening.
Holmes wore all black and looked effortlessly stylish. She accessorized a long pleated skirt with a silky black shirt that had a mock turtleneck shape.
She completed her ensemble with gold-toed dark shoes, black tights, and dangling earrings while wearing her hair back.
Deutch, 29, posed with Holmes at one point while donning a shimmering white gown with a feathery accent around the length of the skirt. She accessorized the garment with white shoes and silver chandelier earrings.
In Our Town, Deutch is making her Broadway debut. She reveals that in this week’s issue that she grew particularly close to Holmes while the Dawson’s Creek alumnus was portraying Emily Webb’s mother, Mrs. Webb, on Deutch.
“She is pure sunshine,” says Deutch, adding that she’s grateful for the “warmth and love” she receives from Holmes on and off the stage. “It’s impossible not to feel. She’s a really, very special person.”
“I feel very lucky that I get to be with her in this capacity,» she says.
