Lisa Kudrow recently discovered a heartfelt note from Matthew Perry in the *Friends* cookie time jar he had gifted her
More than a year after his passing, Matthew Perry continues to send signs to his *Friends* co-star, Lisa Kudrow.
On the January 7 episode of *The Drew Barrymore Show*, Kudrow, 61, shared a special moment from her time on the show. When Barrymore asked if she had ever taken anything from set, Kudrow teased that she had, but wasn’t ready to reveal what it was.
This led Barrymore to ask about the famous *Friends* cookie time jar, a gift Perry had given her at the end of their final episode together.
Kudrow explained that she recently rediscovered the jar, which Perry had given her as a wrap gift. To her surprise, she found a note from Perry inside. «I hadn’t opened it up or looked inside of it,» Kudrow shared.
«But yeah, he did. He had a note in there and I forgot about it.» She echoed Barrymore’s reflection, «Timing is everything,» before recalling the emotional significance of the gift.
Perry’s gesture was a reference to an early *Friends* episode in which Kudrow’s character, Phoebe, uses the cookie jar as a clock when she realizes she doesn’t have a watch for a scene.
Kudrow humorously recalled her first reaction to the gift: «The first thing I asked was, ‘This is so nice. Did you get permission?'» She remembered how the cast’s belongings were often checked when they left the set.
In a 2020 interview, Kudrow described the emotional moment when Perry gave her the cookie jar, saying, «We were laughing hysterically and crying, because it was the end of the show.»
Perry had explained that he gave her the jar because of the memorable scene. During a 2021 interview, the cast shared what they took from the set as mementos.
Kudrow kept Phoebe’s rings, which she wore for the *Friends* reunion special, along with her security badges. Jennifer Aniston took one of Monica’s dresses, which she still wears, while Courteney Cox expressed regret for not taking anything.
Matt LeBlanc stole an «I Love Friends» license plate frame, which he placed on David Schwimmer’s car, and Schwimmer took a «Professor Geller» placard from his office.
