«Mini-Miracle»- Al Pacino about Raising a Baby at 84 (Exclusive)

Four kids belong to the Oscar-winning author of the recently released biography, «Sonny Boy.»

Throughout his career, Al Pacino has played a number of legendary parts, including Frank Serpico in Serpico, Tony Montana in Scarface, and Michael Corleone in The Godfather.

Still, being a father is arguably the most fulfilling role he has. Pacino, 84, speaks adoringly about his four children in his new biography Sonny Boy, which will be published by Penguin Press on October 15.

The children are Julie, 34, (who works with acting coach Jan Tarrant), the twins Anton and Olivia, 23, who are actors Beverly D’Angelo and Roman, 16 months (who works with producer Noor Alfallah).

The Academy Award winner for Scent of a Woman also talked about his love for his children in an interview with PEOPLE for a piece in this week’s print issue.

«Having kids is just the most amazing thing. It was fantastic for me,» he declares. «If you want to say that it improved me, then yes. That permanently altered me. The notion of directing your attention towards other people, who also happen to be your offspring, embodies love.

June 2023 saw the arrival of Pacino’s youngest son. When asked how he feels about becoming a father now, he responds. Yeah, it’s the same every time. It is constant throughout. It’s a tiny wonder. I can only say that.

«I adore it and am overjoyed to see my kids. It’s fantastic,» he says.

Pacino recently stated that Roman has «come into the world a little more now» in an interview with The New York Times. He is gaining knowledge.»

When the Times asked Pacino if writing his memoir was motivated by Roman, he replied, «That’s one of the reasons, of course.» And that has been a campaign to see if I can stay here a little while longer.

In Sonny Boy, Pacino chronicles his extraordinary journey from sharing a South Bronx tenement apartment with his mother and grandparents to becoming one of the most renowned actors of his generation.

He tells behind-the-scenes tales from the sets of films such as Cruising, Dog Day Afternoon, and The Godfather in his trademark sarcastic style.

«Writing my life story was something I never thought I would do, but it was time.» Pacino says of the process. I’m 85 years old. You see why they put things down when you reach that point and begin to age.

Penguin Press will release Sonny Boy on October 15. It is currently available for preorder everywhere books are sold.
