It has been rumored that Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are increasing their real estate holdings.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have purchased a holiday house in Portugal to supplement their Montecito, California, property, where they stay with their three-year-old daughter Princess Lilibet and five-year-old son Prince Archie.
The area would be a perfect fit for the pair, even though the allegations are still unverified. Princess Eugenie, Harry’s cousin, and her spouse, Jack Brooksbank, also own a house in Portugal.
Jack and Eugenie, parents of three-year-old August and one-year-old Ernest, started alternating between Portugal and the United Kingdom in 2022 when Jack took a new job overseas.
They currently own a home in Melides, just south of Lisbon, in the exclusive CostaTerra Golf and Ocean Club, which has 300 villas.
In 2023, just after the Invictus Games in Dusseldorf, Germany, Harry and Meghan traveled to Portugal to see Eugenie and Jack.
The chairman of the Alentejo Tourism Board, Jose Santos, attested to Harry and Meghan’s satisfaction with their «brief stay» at the CostaTerra.
With average non-stop flights averaging two hours and thirty minutes to three hours, Portugal provides a far quicker travel to Harry’s native nation of the United Kingdom than California.
According to those close to Harry, since he resigned from his position as a senior working royal in 2020, he has stated a wish to visit his family, friends, and other organizations he is still involved with more often in the United Kingdom.
But he hasn’t been able to bring Meghan and their kids along or come as frequently as he would want due to security concerns.
The pair no longer has a solid basis in the United Kingdom after being compelled to leave their previous residence, Frogmore Cottage, which was a wedding present from Queen Elizabeth, last year.
