Richard Gere says he’s «happier than ever» living in Spain with his wife, Alejandra Silva, and their kids

Richard Gere is opening up about his fulfilling life in Spain with wife Alejandra Silva and their children. In an interview with *Elle España*, the 75-year-old actor expressed how his move to the country has brought him new happiness.

He shared that his family, including their sons Alexander, 5, James, 4, and Silva’s son Albert, 11, has brought him a sense of balance and joy.

Gere reflected, «The truth is that you are seeing us in our momentum. We are happier than ever. [Alejandra] is happy at home, and if she is happy, I am happy.»

He also spoke about the strong bond with Silva, citing their shared passion for environmental work, including the Sierra a Mar project in Mexico. «We can all minimize ego, and that’s when true change happens,» Gere explained.

Silva, 41, shared how she and Gere have been deeply aligned since their first meeting in Positano, Italy, in 2014, calling their connection «soul mates.»

She emphasized their shared values, adding, «We were united by the karma of our past lives.»

The couple moved to Spain to be closer to Silva’s family, a decision Gere explained in a previous interview with *Vanity Fair Spain* in April 2024.

He expressed gratitude for the time he spent living in her world, saying, «She was very generous in giving me six years living in my world, so it is only fair that I give her at least another six living in hers.»

Gere also discussed how their children, who are bilingual, will benefit from growing up in Spain. He made a similar statement on *The Today Show* in November 2024, further explaining how the move will enhance their lives.

The actor, who rose to fame in the ’80s with films like *American Gigolo* and *An Officer and a Gentleman*, shared his desire to take a step back from the limelight in a recent podcast appearance.

Reflecting on his career, Gere noted, «I made a subconscious choice to step back. I didn’t want all that attention… I didn’t want to be looked at.»
