Shailene Woodley Admits Talking About Aaron Rodgers ‘Always Makes Me Cry’: ‘It Wasn’t Meant to Be’
Shailene Woodley Reflects on Aaron Rodgers Relationship: ‘It Wasn’t Right, But It Was Beautiful’
Shailene Woodley is opening up with rare remarks about her past relationship with ex-fiancé Aaron Rodgers.
In an interview with Outside magazine published on Dec. 3, the Divergent star shared, “I haven’t talked much about my relationship with Aaron because it always makes me cry.” She continued, “It wasn’t right. But it was beautiful.”
The actress, 33, and the NFL quarterback, 41, ended their engagement in February 2022, just over a year after going public with their romance. Despite briefly reconciling, the pair ultimately split for good that April.
In her Outside interview, Shailene Woodley shared that a «traumatic» event in early 2022 led to six months of depression. “I felt like I lost my soul, my joy, my self,» she said, adding that she stayed in a «toxic situation» out of empathy for others.
Her best friend, stylist Kris Zero, helped her through that difficult time, which she described as the «lowest low» of her life.
Now making her Broadway debut in Cult of Love, Woodley was named Outside magazine’s Outsider of the Year, honoring her environmental activism, including her work with Conservation International and the PBS docu-series Hope in the Water.
Reflecting on her breakup with Aaron Rodgers, the NFL star previously thanked Woodley in a February 2022 Instagram post for her «unconditional love.» Around the same time, Woodley shared that filming Three Women helped her process emotions during her darkest period, calling it a «pain bubble» but finding solace in her work.
