Shailene Woodley reveals she «lost my soul» in a previous «toxic situation» as she reflects on her split from Aaron Rodgers
Shailene Woodley opened up about a past «toxic» situation where she felt she «lost» herself, sharing rare insights into her breakup with ex-fiancé Aaron Rodgers
In an in-depth interview with Outside magazine, the actress explained, «I haven’t talked much about my relationship with Aaron because it always brings me to tears. It wasn’t right, but it was beautiful,» she revealed.
Shailene Woodley, 33, didn’t provide details about her split from Aaron Rodgers, but reflected on staying in a «toxic situation» due to her empathy for others.
She admitted that her empathy could be «to a fault» and shared a «really awful, traumatic» event in early 2022, around the time of their breakup. She described feeling like she «lost my soul, my self, my happiness,» and deeply understood depression and anxiety.
Woodley said, «I knew I was depressed when I looked at a tree and felt nothing. That was the lowest point of my life.»
In a September interview with Virgin Atlantic’s Vera magazine, Shailene Woodley shared that she uses art and acting to process her emotions.
«I make art to heal my own wounds and understand myself better,» she said, adding that it helps her unlock doors and see the world through new perspectives.
Woodley, making her Broadway debut in Cult of Love, also expressed her passion for optimism. «It’s easy to live from a place of victimhood, but it’s far more rewarding to live with awe and wonder,» she said. «That’s what I try to do.»
