Wearing an elegant ensemble, Anne Hathaway commemorates the 20th anniversary of The Princess Diaries 2
Anne Hathaway is honoring two iconic moments in pop culture from 2004 that will never truly go away.
The 41-year-old actress celebrated the 20th anniversary of The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement on Instagram on August 7.
Hathaway also gave a shout-out to Kelly Clarkson in the post, whose 2004 hit song «Breakaway» is a significant theme and can be heard at the beginning of the soundtrack.
The actress posted several pictures from the film in the post, including ones with Julie Andrews, Chris Pine, Callum Blue, and director Garry Marshall.
She also included a snippet from Clarkson’s music video for the song, which features her at a movie premiere.
«Happy 20th anniversary to and Breakaway!» Added Hathaway to a caption.
In the early 2000s, Hathaway rose to stardom in Hollywood thanks to the Princess Diaries films. She starred in the 2001 original as Mia Thermopolis, who discovers she is the heir to a made-up European kingdom.
She later returned for the sequel, where her character must find a husband in order to keep her claim to the throne.
Back in May, Pine recalled he received $65,000 for costarring in Princess Diaries 2 while he appeared on an episode of Sunday TODAY to promote his movie Poolman.
«It was like they had just told me I’d made $50 million,» he said; the part marked his first appearance in a film. «It was absolutely earth-shattering.»
«Even though $65,000 ultimately turned out to be about $15,000, I just remember clearly knowing in that instant that my life had changed somehow,» he claimed.
In an April interview with V Magazine, Hathaway last discussed the possibility of a second sequel, saying, «We’re in a good place.» All I can say is that. Nothing new needs to be announced. But things are going well for us.
