How Pitt and Jolie will stay apart while attending the film festival
Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt are set to shine at the 2024 Venice Film Festival, but don’t expect the exes to cross paths in Italy.
The festival’s artistic director Alberto Barbera recently told Vanity Fair that while Jolie, 49, and Pitt, 60, are each debuting new movies — Jolie’s Maria Callas biopic Maria premieres on Thursday, Aug. 29, while Pitt’s and George Clooney will arrive Sunday, Sept. 1,
for the premiere of their movie Wolfs — «of course» their appearances on the red carpet are spread out.
«Angelina will be on the first day, on Thursday [Aug.] 29, and she will leave right after with [Maria director] Pablo Larraín to go to [the] Telluride Film Festival,» he told the outlet. «Brad will arrive only on Saturday, to Venice. There is no way that they can cross each other at the Lido.»
Jolie spoke at a press conference for Maria on Aug. 29 before the film’s screening. When asked how she personally related to the real-life opera singer, she told reporters, «There’s a lot I won’t say in this room that you probably know and assume.
I related to the part of her that is extremely soft and didn’t have room in the world to be as soft as she truly was and as emotionally open as she truly was. I think I share her vulnerability more than anything.»
Pitt was recently seen spending time in Italy with his Wolfs costar and longtime friend Clooney, 63, as Page Six reported on Aug. 19.
The duo also recently conducted their cover story for GQ’s September issue from Château Miraval, the sprawling villa property in Correns, France, that remains at the center of an ongoing legal battle with Jolie.
Clooney and Pitt are expected to arrive at the film festival early on Sept. 1; they are similarly expected to take part in a press conference for Wolfs before the movie’s world premiere.
